"UNMENTIONABLES"
~ 1942~
* RKO exacted its revenge on resident efant terrible Orson Welles. While Welles was out of the country, his Citizen Kane follow-up "The Magnificent Ambersons", was slashed by forfty-six minutes after it received less than favorable response from preview audiences. The edited portions were tossed into the scrap heap. The final humiliation was its release on a double bill with B cheapie "Mexican Spitfire Sees A Ghost".
* Greer Garson marrried Richard Ney, nine years her junior, who played her son in "Mrs. Miniver".
* Agnes Morehead (Endora of "Bewitched" fame), wasa a cast member of the ill-fated "The Conqueror" (1956), which was unwittingly filmed in the Nevada, too close to a nuclear testing site. She died of possibly connected cancer, as did co-stars John Wayne, Susan Hayward, and Lee VanCleef.
* As a struggling young actor, James Cagney auditioned for George M. Cohen, the stage legend, he would eventually play in "Yankee Doodle Dandy". Cohen didn't hire him.
